The theremin (theremin, theremin or Theremin), is one of the first electronic musical instruments. Invented in 1919 by Russian physicist Lev Sergeyevich Termen.
The classic design is a box with two antennas. Runs approaching and removing the hand from each of the antennas connected, without actually touching them. The antenna left (from the standpoint of a skilled performer) is horizontal and looped, and serves to control the volume: the more nearly the same is the left hand, the lower the volume.
The right antenna is usually straight and vertical, and serves to control the frequency: the closer the right of it, the sharper the sound produced.
The Theremin is an instrument that has been used extensively in film, especially in American pelicuals B series, fiction or horror, but it was the violinist Clara Rockmore who used a classical romantic repertoire and gave credibility to the theremin as an instrument for the first time soloist in orchestral environment.
